Activities - Service - Gideons:
The Gideons International, founded in 1899, serves as an extended missionary arm of the Church is the oldest Christian business and professional men’s association in the U.S. It has been over 100 years since the Gideons placed the first Bible in a hotel room in Montana. Today, the Gideons are organized in 187 countries around the globe and print scriptures in 83 languages. Through God’s grace and to His Glory, more than 1.4 billion Bibles and New Testaments have been placed by the Gideons, and the work continues. Today, there are more than 260,000 Gideons and Auxiliary members in more than 9000 local groups worldwide. Scriptures are distributed to these groups: hotels and motels, hospitals, convalescent homes, medical offices, domestic violence shelters, police stations, fire stations, military bases, and schools (5th grade and above). Two of Christ Memorial members are Gideons and the Gideons ministry is supported financially each year by CMLC.
